Put in to bat first, on a dry pitch that already saw two matches on the same day, one would think MCC was happy with losing the toss, but soon after the steady start, Mano got out to Muendhan's intelligent bowling. Muvendhan earlier during the day took 5 wickets in their first-round match against The Scoring Willows. Soon in 4 balls, Sathish, MCC's swashbuckling allrounder also got caught cheaply, setting in motion some steadying action from Samsudeen and Pasu who top-scored for the team. Arasu, Yuvaraj and Mani chipped in with meaningful contributions as the relentless Chandru Sports bowlers in Avinash, Abdul and Muendan kept pegging back and putting breaks on MCC's scoring. Eventually, MCC saw through the 20 overs and scored 121.

Chasing the target of 122, a little over 6 runs an over, Chandru sports who scored 92 in their first match on a pitch that kept low and tricky, would have thought 121 on a dry pitch would be a gettable one, with their hard-hitting, unforgiving batting line-up; but the pitch and the seasoned MCC bowlers outsmarted them. Sathish must have been so upset that he did not contribute with his bat, he bowled an unplayable first ball that cleaned up Abdul the very first ball of the innings. With the tight line and length that MCC bowlers bowled, Chandru sports were soon reeling under pressure at 4/15 in 4.3 overs. With their top guns back in the pavilion, Chandru Sports' batsmen put up a brave fight, trying to stop the MCC attack, but it was too much of climbing out of the hole they found themselves in. With Rai and Pasu picking up 3 apiece, Samsu, Sathish and Yuvaraj shared the rest, eventually seeing Chandru sports all out for 44 in 15.5 overs.

MCC clearly stood out in the competition and won this final. Chandru Sports are valiant fighters, and with the kind of batting depth and clinical bowling attack, one would hope to see these two teams face each other soon again to see Chandru Sports look to set the records straight.

Congratulations MCC for winning the inaugural trophy!
