DNCC: 59/7 in 10 overs
Jolly Cricketers: 51/7 in 10 overs
DNCC won by 8 runs
Man of the match: M.S. Murali
DNCC won the toss and elected to bat first
On a scorching Sunday morning in Chennai, India, two rivals face each other again to settle scores for this weekend in a series of face-offs that are fast becoming a local favourite.
Played in MPT cricket ground (MPT stands for Madras Port Trust) in the cricket-loving neighbourhood of Tondiarpet in Chennai, MPT friendlies are played on the weekends between DNCC and Jolly Cricketers.
Started during the weekend of Mar 1, 2020, the teams have met on 8 Mar again. Both teams have won once each on 1 March and the first match on 8 Mar was poised for a great start from the beginning.
Batting first after winning the toss, DNCC scored 59 for 7 wickets. Jaffar 16(7), Sridhar 12(15) and Habi 11(8) have made stellar contributions to push the score to 59/7, with two towering sixers by Jaffar providing the much-needed impetus to the scoring rate. Jaga showed great promise with a quick boundary but soon paid a price for an expansive shot selection.
Seeing how Jolly Cricketers chase certainly made everyone around the ground think they were going to win, especially as Murali 36(29) was hitting 3 sixers in quick succession, but no significant contribution from others, Murali's efforts went in vain and Jolly Cricketers ended up falling 8 runs short of the total.
With the sun rising up the sky, setting the pitch literally ablaze, Scorewala wonders whether Jolly Cricketers would win MAtch 4 of the friendlies and level the series at 2-2.
